It is interesting to note that recent studies actually show that Resveratrol has pain relieving properties when administered to lab rats as published in the Journal “Pain”. A study conducted by the Pharmacology Division of the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in India concluded that polyphenols (antioxidants) like Resveratrol has the potential of treating diabetic neuropathic pain.
But there has yet to be a research to check its link with migraine headaches, whether as a side effect or as target for pain relief. Wines have been known to trigger migraine headaches in people who already suffer from it. Unfortunately little is known on the cause of this trigger in red wines and Resveratrol can’t assume being the culprit here as it is just one of the chemicals found in red wines.
